Music

Music. So straightforward yet so intricate. Some use music to simply find enjoyment in a tune or find the song that reveals their life in that moment. Or to dance and impress that special someone. Maybe to get their mind off things and get lost in a world where thoughts don't exist.

But even more deeply than that. Music is emotion. Music can make you cry, laugh, smile, and tremble in fear. Music can make the hair on your neck stand on end, it can make your mind wander and cause you to lose your way, it can give you the entry to dance the night away, or suck the energy from your pores and leave a lifeless being only showing movement through every breath. Although, sometimes it has the power to take even your breath away.

Why does music have this power over us? It's mearly a mix of a tune, lyrics, and a beat all synchronized as one entity that appeals to mearly our sense of hearing.

Many times we talk about the five senses. Touch, Hearing, Sight, Smell, Taste. But there is one sense that is often looked over. But this sense isn't concrete, it's more abstract, or rather intangible. Our sense of emotion.

Music reaches that miniscule, often forgotten sense in a way that can't be fully understood. It helps us understand our deep unconscious thoughts, feelings.. even passions. It has so much control over our thought process that it should not simply be taken for granted.

Take the time to listen to your favorite tune between homework study sessions to lift your spirits. Learn a song that you can perform with your heart instead of your voice and your instrumental talents. Write a song that reflects your unconscious misunderstood or never heard thoughts.

Music.
